North West Ambulance Service to report beyond the state of emergency

Cloud2 to transform trust’s business intelligence reporting with Meson BI and Microsoft.

Cloud2 has been selected by one of the UK’s largest ambulance trust – NWAS – to modernise its business intelligence reporting through the implementation of Cloud2’s BI solution – Meson-BI.

The Trust will replace its existing reporting solution which is now outdated in order to support its aim of ‘”delivering the right care, at the righ time, in the right place”. The goal is to use Meson-BI to help the Trust to efficiently deliver response targets, deliver quality safe care and further reducing hospital admissions while improving patient experience.

In 2015, North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) went out to tender for a Microsoft SharePoint 2013 and SQL 2014 BI platform installation and support service as the first phase in delivering a refresh of their BI reporting technologies.

Chris Gresty, Head of Informatics, tells us why he selected Cloud2:

“The Cloud2 team impressed us both with their Microsoft expertise as well understanding the challenges we face in the emergency and urgent care setting of the NHS. They are working closely with the Informatics team to ensure the BI platform is designed and architected to meet our needs and deployed within our budget and to tight timescales. This experience bodes well for future works planned with Cloud2”.

The NHS is at a crossroad; typically using heavily outdated technology in a sector where there are massive cost pressures and demands for innovation and efficiency improvements. In recent years, Microsoft has caught up with the competition with a powerful, capable set of tools to support visualisation that complement the typical resource (budgets, team skills) constraints in the NHS.

“We’re delighted to be working with NWAS through the next (and very exciting) phase of their business intelligence journey with Meson-BI Portal, which is an 80% pre-configured solution built on SharePoint. It’ll provide NWAS all the tools to enhance their user experience and speed up their internal reporting processes. We understand that our NHS customers don’t have the luxury of investing multiple six figure sums to buy expensive BI reporting tools, which is why we’re excited to implement the portal at NWAS in just eight weeks” adds Taran Sohal, Director at Cloud2.

Used by NHS Trusts across the country, Meson-BI is a robust, customisable and scalable solution that provides users with advanced capabilities for self-service, quick insights (with detailed drill through), and collaboration which results in faster, more informed decisions through a richer and more accurate picture of performance.

“Our analysts have had to spend far too much time accessing, extracting and preparing data. With Meson-BI Portal they’ll be able to work more effectively with modern Microsoft BI technologies, freeing up time to spend using and analysing reports with senior management, based on the aspirant principle of achieving a single version of the truth. Cloud2 and Meson-BI will enhance BI reporting to the Trust and self-service opportunities are within our reach”, concludes Gresty.
